This project uses Excel worksheet cells as pixels to render a real image. It requires .NET 4.5 and local Excel to run. It is coded in C#/Winform/VS 2013.

Basically, the Winform program selects an image from your hard drive and launches Excel to render the selected image with the worksheet cells.

Sample runtime images

The short implementation process is as follows:

• Selects the image and samples it into memory given your UI inputs (units, columns, etc.).
• Launches Excel, making the spreadsheet cell square to simulate a large pixel.
• It scans the resampled image into memory either linearly or randomly (I prefer the random method, the effect is fun to watch).
• Changes the background color of the cell one by one (in linear or random order).
